A security guard’s job is to keep the area he is protecting as safe as possible. This means that he should always be on high alert when he is on duty. It also means that he should patrol his area on a regular basis and in random intervals. This will ensure that the property he is patrolling is safe, regardless of whether he is in charge of guarding an event, or on duty at the specific site. Some of the things our security guards bear in mind and have to consider are listed below:
Wear shoes that are comfortable.
Before even setting foot on the site concerned, our guards make sure that they have a comfortable pair of shoes to wear while on patrol. You would be surprised by how many security guards don’t think about this at first and then find themselves searching for a place to sit when they’re supposed to be out walking around and patrolling. Uncomfortable shoes can prevent you from doing your job to the best of your ability.
Guards make sure that they are carrying defense gear at all times.
Some security guards are allowed to carry guns. Others rely on tasers. Many are only permitted to carry a baton stick, cuffs and pepper spray while out on patrol. Regardless of what you’ve been instructed to carry, the key is to make sure you have it on you at all times when you are working. Even something as simple as a flashlight can help scare off criminals, so it’s important for you to have your defense gear on you while you’re patrolling the premises.
Walk different routes when on guard duty.
There are many security guards who will pick a routine during their patrol and stick to it. They fall into the habit of walking this same route every day or night. While this makes life easier on them, it also makes it easier for a criminal to pinpoint where a guard will be at a specific time. By switching up your route every time you walk it, you can make things less predictable and prevent a criminal from picking up on your habits.
Security guards that who are employed by USEC SECURITY are highly skilled when it comes to providing protection. They are trained to protect properties and will leave you feeling safe at all times, regardless of what kind of property you operate.

The Patrol Device Has Features Such As:
- When the guard fails to patrol 5 minutes after the scheduled time, a silent alarm is activated to the control room
- When the device is in a vertical position for longer than 5 minutes a silent alarm is activated to the control room
- The device has a built-in GPS tracking system
- The device has a phone capability. The guard simply presses a button and don’t have to speak in case he is tied up or injured. The control room can hear what is going on and records it.
- The number of tags set up at the checkpoints depends on the size of your premises. Should a guard fail or skip a checkpoint, the silent alarm is activated.
Our guards are issued with a panic button should they need the support of an armed response on site. We install a panic box on the premises at our own cost for this purpose.
